Glasgow Goes Reiki
12/10/09 22:07

Last Sunday was a very special day indeed.
It was The 1st Reiki Glasgow Gathering, organised by Lorna McLean and Patricia Iris. When I first heard about it a few months ago, I had asked the Universe to help me get there and lo and behold my roster duly arrived with the full weekend free to immerse in the healing energy of Reiki. Staying in Edinburgh with my friend and Reiki Master teacher, Yvonne Jevons, we car pooled with Christine and Emma and off we set to Glasgow.
A Reiki day trip!
The roads were clear and our spirits were full of anticipation for the day ahead as we sped across Scotland to the Glasgow Concert Hall. Ironically, as the volunteered navigator, I still managed to miss the turn off and we did a short detour and a highly illegal but great fun U-turn and then ‘the lights came on’ and Emma said she knew where we were! But even before we got near the venue, all of us in the car (each of us a Reiki Master) felt the energy emanating out. It was beautiful. Peaceful and loving and it pulled at our hearts and solar plexus and drew us in.
Beautiful soothing music was playing and we were all given a goodie bag with a crystal, handmade soap, a pocket size Antahkarana, a bottle of mineral water, and a very comprehensive handout with all the information on the skills that were going to be shared during the day. I was relieved and very excited! It was actually a very special feeling to be part of such a large number of people (around 150) who were all working for the light.I have to admit that in the past I have avoided spiritual conferences and gatherings of healers because they can turn into a stage for the ego with a lot of superficial hugging and loving in wafty-wafty clothes and saintly facial expressions;) However, I am delighted to say that this was completely different! As soon as we walked in the energy was one of unity, acceptance and yes, love.
Our morning started with a session on Dru Yoga with Ellen MacKenzie and she had us up out of our seats and straight into a warm up before we knew it. I had never heard of Dru Yoga but it is a ‘graceful and potent form of yoga, based on soft flowing movements, directed breathing and visualisation.’ The movements reminded me of Tai Chi and it was certainly lovely to do. My favourite position was the tree...
After a short break, when Emma and I devoured our supply of sugar boosting flapjacks and sandwiches, Lorna McLean opened the session on the Antahkarana.

Under the centre crystal we could place healing requests for those in need. Whether it was a photo or a written name, these people would receive healing and we could leave these requests for as long as needed. I loved it, and I can’t wait to go and find my quartz wands!
After a short lunch break, where our little Reiki gang chose to go outside and get a good Glasgae blow through of brisk, gusty, air, it was time to meet Patricia Iris. Patricia’s speciality is VIVA - Vibration, Inner healing and Voice-work guided by the Archangelic Realms. And we were blessed that afternoon for her to introduce us to the Kotodama.
Chanting the symbols for ourselves was then enhanced as we linked up with a partner (thank you Emma! Yes, I was still too shy to link up with an unknown soul!) to chant the symbols with intent for their healing. It was a humbling and beautiful experience, and also very powerful as we felt the energy shifts between us. I wish there had been time for more! The Kotodama are ancient vocalizations of the Reiki symbols, from before they were even put onto paper. First of all, she taught us how to find our own heart vibration and sing it. I went from being 100% embarrassed at having to sing, to being 200% enthralled at the feeling of my voice and the vibration it awakened within me.
The afternoon began to close with the Reiki Masters sharing a Reiju Empowerment with each person there. And then it was time for the closing of the day and we all joined together to send light out to the world.
Wow. I was exhausted but on cloud nine as we drove back to Edinburgh and I have already asked the Universe to help me return to Glasgow for the next gathering on April 11th 2010.
And the true testament to it being such a wonderfully compelling day was that I completely forgot to take any photos! So a huge thank you to Lorna and Patricia for bringing us all together and for creating such a very special day!
In the meantime if you are drawn to discover more healing work why not come and join me on 24 & 25 October in Falkirk? I will be sharing a 2 day workshop on Universal Reflexology and the Healing Journey and I have a feeling I will be incorporating some of the wonderful tools I learnt last weekend!
No need to be a reflexology practitioner, this workshop is open to anyone interested in healing through the feet and who is drawn to embark on their own journey of self discovery through understanding the mind/body link in healing.
All enquiries and bookings are through info@sumotherapies.com.
See you there!
In love and light, Sally xx
