“Sole Trader": The Holistic Therapy Business Handbook by Jane Sheehan
Price £16.99 plus postage

Our resident foot reader Jane Sheehan has been very busy over the last few months and on September 20th she is delighted to be launching her latest book ‘Sole Trader.’ The feet have taken Jane on many an interesting journey and in this, her third book, she shares her wealth of experience on the more practical aspects of working within the holistic world. Well done Jane!

Here is a quick insight into Jane’s new book by our own lovely Yvette Eastman.

"This book contains everything that I wish I knew then, that I know now, about starting and running a holistic therapy business."

Jane Sheehan is the UK's leading Foot Reader, author of 'Let's Read Our Feet!' and 'The Foot Reading Coach.' She acknowledges that most holistic therapists enter their field because they have a passion for their subject but have gaps in their business knowledge. In producing this book, Jane aims to demystify the theory and make it come alive through examples.

“When I first started my holistic therapy business, I had heaps of enthusiasm and a large dose of naivety! There’s nothing like experience for teaching you what to do and what not to do. I noticed that more and more of my students were asking me questions about starting their own business or about how to attract more business and I realised how much I’d learned. It made me smile when they told me their fears because I remembered what that felt like, and if I’d known then what I know now, I’d have made that leap sooner. There wasn’t a book like this when I started. I wrote it so that you don’t have to make all the same mistakes I did and hopefully so that you will have the confidence that comes from anticipating the pitfalls so that you can start out on your journey boldly.”

Learn how to:
  • attract new clients and know which ones to sack!
  • gain tips on negotiating
  • understand cash flow forecasts, budgets and money
  • overcome the fear of asking for your fee

There are plenty of case studies so that you can learn not just through other peoples’ successes, but also through their failures. It’s as important to learn what doesn’t work as well as what will work so that you can avoid making costly mistakes.

If Jane's experienced it in her practice, then you're going to read about it in 'Sole Trader: The Holistic Therapy Business Handbook'

Testimonials
"This book has plenty of simple, practical advice, but is also a really interesting read. And it has real examples of people who live out their holistic dream! Jane's inspiring and infectious attitude makes you believe that success is absolutely within reach. Imagine that! "
Helen Legh, BBC Radio Presenter

"The Sole Trader, though specific to the health practitioner, should be part of every entrepreneur’s arsenal. I started to read this book with the determination necessary for one who despises the business angle of my profession. I dragged myself through the first few pages of business plans and market analysis. All of a sudden I was in a brand new world. Jane Sheehan has taken the driest of subjects and has filled the pages with the most useful information, dressed in her energy and love of life. It is a page-turner! She uses facts and personal stories of both successes and failures. It covers aspects no one has even thought of, within advertising analysis, media interview tips, and from attracting clientele to sacking the ones that don’t work out, from licenses for music used, to pricing in a recession. She covers the use and function of holidays, the art of negotiation in order to get the most in the best way, She shows you the value and use of pamper evenings, and travelling to spread your fame and fortune. If you wonder about a gift for your self or your self-starter friend, this is the best I’ve seen on the market."

*Note that whilst the English Law and English accountancy rules covered in this book will not be appropriate for your country, there’s plenty of useful advice that will be applicable.
