Living from the Heart

How often do we bend to follow our logic and intellect when deep down our heart is telling us to do something different? Life is such a roller coaster ride and there are infinite decisions to be made along the way, and yet more often than not we deny ourselves happiness by conforming to what we feel we should be doing.

Our heart knows what we want, our body can tell us what is best for us, so why don’t we listen? Do you recognise that sinking feeling after having agreed to go out for dinner when you really just wanted to kick off your shoes and have a veg-out evening in front of the tv? Taking the job with the higher salary and yet knowing that you are only doing it for the money and aren’t interested in the work itself. Being swayed be colleagues and family to do what is expected of you, when you just know that it goes against your grain. What do we actually gain from living lies such as these? Very little indeed.

It takes courage in this day and age to stand out from the crowd and not to bow to pressures and social expectations. But can you imagine how liberating it will feel to be true to yourself and follow your heart? How wonderful to value yourself enough to say “Actually, I’m not going to do that because I know it’s not right for me.” How exhilarating to say, “My job is making me unhappy, so I am going to leave and do what fulfils me and what I always wanted to do.” How empowering to stand up for what you believe in and yet not be discouraged by the looks and words of disapproval.

If we all were to live our lives true to our hearts, then the world would be a much happier place … and most likely much more prosperous and abundant as a result.

Living from the heart makes life so much easier. Take everything else out of the equation and just listen to what your heart and soul says. Trust in yourself, because deep down you already know the answer. Hand over those tiresome little worries that nag away in the back of your mind. Let your heart and the Universe take care of them for you.

This isn’t about being irresponsible or selfish; it is about honouring yourself and being true to your needs, wishes and dreams. This life is but a drop in the ocean so we owe it to ourselves to savour every minute of it and to relish in the joy of just being. We deserve to live our life in happiness.

Try this now. Focus on something that is troubling you at the moment. See it mulling around up in your intellectual mind. How does it make you and your body feel? Now consciously bring in the light and create a channel from your mind down into your heart and move the ‘concern’ into the light of your heart space. Let it sit there for a while, you can even let go of it. Can you feel the difference in your body? How do you feel now? The heart brings a loving peace and calm to any situation and it will always have the answer, because your heart is you.

Start today, in this very moment! Be aware of your choices and tune in to your true feelings. Be courageous and honour yourself because there is no greater gift that you can give to your soul. Find what makes you happy … be happy, for in that same moment you will have discovered yourself.
