Healing with Laughter

What is a laughter workshop?

A laughter workshop provides the opportunity for one to come along and learn the benefits of laughter and different techniques of how to laugh in a safe comfortable environment.

Different techniques – surely a laugh is a laugh?

Well if you listen to the laughter around you in your life you will notice many different laughs from different people. Sometimes laughs are stifled, or a small giggle and sometimes they are deep and bellowing, or quite high pitched. Laughs vary considerably depending on the person and the environment.

My favourite laugh as it is so beneficial is the belly laugh. The natural physiological process of laughter allows us to release emotions in the body. Emotions like anger, fear and boredom can be released and sometimes crying takes place as part of the laughing process. Remember when you have laughed so much you began to cry with laughter?

How long is a laughter workshop?

Well my laughter sessions vary considerably. I have been known to teach a belly laugh over the radio during a relatively short interview. Sometimes I am allocated a twenty minute slot between presenters at a conference, or maybe at the start of the day to energise and motivate delegates.

When I am delivering to cancer groups or other health, wellbeing and social groups I like to have an hour session or longer and when I am contracted by companies to de stress and motivate their staff a half day or full day session gives me plenty of opportunity to allow maximum benefit to attendees.

How do people feel after a laughter workshop?

“My cheeks ached – I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry...”

“I exercised muscles in my stomach I didn’t know I had...”

“I can not remember how long it is since I had such fun!”

“I came back this year remembering what a great time I had previously. Wow, it was great fun all over again...”

“The tension and anxiety of experiencing cancer has melted away. I feel fabulous!”
